The twelve services

Each one has a page on what is involved, what makes it cost more or less, and the questions people usually ask.

Handyman & Home Repair

One visit for the pile of small jobs that never justify a specialist on their own.

What's involved

TV Mounting

Fixed into studs or properly anchored, cables managed, every source tested before we leave.

What's involved

Drywall Repair

Holes, cracks, popped tape and ceiling stains, finished and primed so the patch disappears.

What's involved

Interior Painting

Filling, caulking and cut-in work, then two coats. The prep is most of the job.

What's involved

Deck Building & Deck Repair

New decks built, and old ones sorted out: boards, railings, stairs and the framing underneath.

What's involved

Siding & Structural Repairs

Damaged siding, rotten soffit and fascia and spongy subfloor, cut back to sound wood.

What's involved

Door Repair & Installation

Doors that stick, drag or will not latch, plus new interior and exterior installations.

What's involved

Gutter Cleaning & Repair

Cleared by hand, every downspout flow-tested, sagging sections re-secured.

What's involved

Pressure Washing

Driveways, siding, walkways, decks and patios, washed at a pressure the surface can actually take.

What's involved

LVP Flooring Installation

Luxury vinyl plank, laid over a subfloor that got checked before anything was clicked together.

What's involved

Screened Porches

New screened porches, and existing decks and porches closed in.

What's involved

Fence Installation & Repair

Wood, vinyl and chain link, new runs and repairs, where the posts and the gate decide whether it holds.

How to use one visit well

Group the small jobs

The trip is a fixed cost whatever happens on it. That single fact is the most useful thing to know about hiring a handyman: five small jobs booked together cost meaningfully less per job than five separate service calls, and take one afternoon of your time rather than five mornings.

So it's worth writing the list before you call, including the items you have stopped noticing. The door that's been sticking for two years. The deck board that flexes underfoot. The bit of trim behind the sofa.

Send your list

Commonly grouped together

  • Before repainting: drywall patching, nail pops, caulking and trim repair, then paint
  • Rental turnover: patch, paint, door adjustments, faucet swaps, caulk
  • Autumn exterior round: gutters cleared, downspouts checked, soffit and fascia inspected
  • New TV: mounting, and getting the cables out of sight
  • Pre-sale list: inspection-report items handled in one pass

Before you hire anyone

Worth checking, whoever you call

Two questions sort most of it, and they are worth asking of every quote you get rather than only this one.

Before you book anyone

Journey Home Services carries general liability insurance. Ask and we will send the certificate over.

Worth asking that of whoever you hire, along with who is actually doing each part of the job. More in the FAQs.

Not sure which one you need?

Describe the problem rather than the service. Working out which trade it belongs to is part of the job.
